Traditional Biscuits Recipe

Today I decided I was going to make biscuits. I am not entirely sure why but it could be because its a miserable wet day and there is nothing better than a cuppa and a home made biscuit on days like these. I used a recipe from an old Aldi magazine that works really well and thought I would share it on here before I lose it.

These are the biscuits straight from the oven and cooling down.

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 14o g butter
  • 280g self-raising flour
  • 140 g caster sugar
  • Finely grated zest of one lemon
  • 55 g raisins
  • 1 egg

Method

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 190C, gas mark 5
  2. Rub the butter into the flour
  3. Add the lemon zest, sugar and raisins and bring together gently
  4. Add the beaten egg and mix well
  5. Roll out until 1/2 cm thick and cut out with a cutter.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes, until lightly browned and cooked
  7. Remove from oven, cool and remove from tray

Try not to eat them all at once! I would be interested in knowing what you think of this recipe if you try it, I love it.
