Lathams Veterinarian Approved Dog Food

Recently my dog was sent some Lathams Veterinarian approved dog food to try and to review. This is not a dog food I have heard of before but it sounded good. It is rich in meat and contains no added colours or preservatives and is also free from wheat, soy and dairy which can cause problems in sensitivities in dogs.  It is a dog food that has been designed to meet the needs of different breeds, sizes and ages of dogs and contains ingredients that will help give dogs a healthy coat and skin to strong bones and teeth.  It is also available in Tesco so you do not need to go out of your way to buy it.

My dog wasn’t quite sure what to make of it at first, I don’t think he realised it was food. That soon changed when I poured it into a bowl for him. It disappeared very quickly indeed so he obviously approved.

It is a dried dog food so I was a little bit wary about giving it to him at first. If you follow me on twitter you may remember that when I first got the dog I switched his diet to dried dog food, without realising that you have to make changes like this gradually. The poor puppy ended up constipated and was howling when trying to poo. This was not something I wanted to repeat so I added the Lathams gradually to his normal food until it was all Lathams. I am pleased to report that there were no problems at all with it and I am sure the puppy was happy about that as well.

Lathams comes in a number of different varieties so there is bound to be one to suit your dog. It is available in Adult, Puppy, Mature, Sensitive and Light variants plus if you have a large breed dog you can get adult and puppy variants for them as well.

Lathams dog food was developed with the advice of a veterinarian,  David Helliwell BSc BVM+S MRCVS  who studied biochemistry and physiology before training to become a vet at Edinburgh University. After graduating in 1978, he moved to Yorkshire, where he now focuses on small animal medicine and surgery. I have a small confession to make, when I first read about Lathams I could have sworn it said Vegetarian approved food and I was wondering how dog food containing meat could be vegetarian. I was tired, it was late, I apologise! The dog loves the food so all is well.
