I wanted to make a quick and simple dinner so I decided to try these sachets of Blue Dragon Hoisin and Garlic Stir Fry Sauce. I love Chinese food and as well as being healthy for you, a stir fry is always easy and simple to make. Anything that is easy to make is a good thing in my view, after a long day at work the last thing you want to do is to spend hours in the kitchen cooking.
The Blue Dragon Stir Fry Sauce comes in a handy sachet which is very easy to store in a cupboard as it does not take up much space. Each sachet it meant to be enough for two people, I used two sachets as there are three of us and I like a lot of sauce. I disregarded the cooking instructions on the back of the packet. Not because they were not easy to follow but because they called for duck and I did not have any duck lying around my kitchen. I used turkey strips and a packet of stir fry vegetables for my recipe.
I warmed a pan and then added the turkey strips. When they had browned nicely I threw in the stir fry vegetables, stirred this for a minute then added the sauce. I let it cook for a couple of minutes so that the sauce covered everything nicely and then served it up on a bed of noodles.
It looked nice but how did it taste? It has a lovely taste, the garlic is very subtle and not over-powering at all. You can tell it is there but it adds flavour to the meal. I am not entirely sure what hoisin sauce is made of but it does have a rather nice taste. It is a bit like a dark soy sauce but more flavoursome and definitely complemented the meat nicely. My son and husband enjoyed the meal as well and all the plates were empty after the meal. If you are looking for something to keep in your cupboard to make a quick meal with, these sauces definitely fit the bill.
The sauces are available in most supermarkets and come in different flavours including Sweet and Sour, Black Bean, Chow Mein as well as Hoisin and Garlic. As well as the 130g sachet you can also get a 200g jar.
