Choosing the perfect winter boot

I know from experience that there is nothing worse than having winter boots that leak. The last pair I had were letting in water and I had cold wet feet on a regular basis.  Luckily Footway got in touch to see if I would like to try a pair of their boots.

Footway, are an online shoe store who sell shoes to eleven different countries. They aim to provide a fabulous shopping experience with quick delivery. I found it really easy to choose a pair of boots from their site. The search facility allows you to choose the size, brand and style you are looking for. This allows you to quickly see shoes and boots that are perfect for you.

I know from experience that it is worth investing in a good pair of winter boots as they last much longer.  I know that CAT create lovely boots that last a long time and keep your feet warm. This is the pair I choose. They are short which makes them perfect for wearing under trousers or with skinny jeans. I love the little details like the studded belt which makes them look smart. They are perfect for wearing to work or with casual wear. Even better they came very quickly after ordering so I didn’t have to wait long to wear them.

I took the dog out on a snowy day to try out my new boots. The fit was perfect. Sometimes with new boots they can rub a little until you wear them in. I had no such problems with these CAT boots.

The boots were perfect for the weather. The soles had a good grip on the ice and the boots kept my feet warm and cosy. I know these boots are going to be sturdy and hard wearing. I think I made the right choice. What do you think of my boots?

Tips for choosing the perfect winter boots

When choosing a winter boot you want to shop somewhere where they have a large range of boots. You may not be sure what you are looking for. Being able to look through a large range of styles is great. You also need somewhere that will ship the boots quickly after you choose them.

Think about the occasion

Decide where you are going to wear the boots. If you are going to be wearing them for work or days out then you do not want to choose a pair of hiking boots. You will want a pair of boots that look stylish but also keeps your feet warm and dry. Often women’s winter boots put fashion over function and you end up with wet feet. If you are planning on going hiking you will want boots that are comfortable and support your foot.

Choose a style

There are so many different styles of winter boot to choose from it can be hard to narrow down what style you want. First, think about the sort of clothes you will be wearing with them. This will help you decide if you want long or short boots. You will want a boot that is above your ankle so that snow does not get inside when you are walking in it. Tall boots offer additional protection from deep snow but may not go so well under trousers.

Think about heel height. Whilst it is tempting to go for high heels these will not provide much grip on ice. You might be better with a flat boot. Once you have chosen a style then you can think about other features of the boot.

Comfort and fit

Make sure you choose boots that fit well and don’t rub. There is nothing worse than having sore feet. Make sure the boots feel comfortable before you get them.

Since you are likely to be walking on icy paths your boots will need a good grip. If they don’t have this you are likely to end up sliding along in an undignified fashion or falling. If you fall on ice you are likely to get hurt.

Waterproof and warm

When walking in snow you need boots that are waterproof or you will end up with wet feet. Think about what the boots are made of. Your boots need to be well insulated to stop your feet getting cold.

Love the boots you’ve chosen, they look comfy and stylish, great for long walks with Eddie.

  2. These look ideal. I’ve made the mistake previously of boots that don’t grip or suede boots that leak
