It’s Always Summer With Cider at Sizzling Pubs! Why not enjoy a meal at Sizzling Pubs this summer and take advantage of their offers on cider? A glass of cider is a lovely refreshing drink, perfect for the summer.
There is nothing nicer than having a meal out in the Summer. You don’t have to spend time in a hot kitchen and you can enjoy a leisurely meal. On a sunny day you can take your drinks outside and enjoy sitting in the sunshine. One place we go to on a regular basis is our local Sizzling Pub. As well as being nearby we find that the food is great value and very tasty. The bar is family friendly and the staff are always welcoming. Recently Sizzling Pubs got in touch to tell me about their latest promotion – “It’s always summer with cider.” We went along to find out more and enjoy a meal.
For me cider always makes me think of summer. When we were small my parents always took me to visit our grandparents in the summer holidays. They did not live near us and it was always a long drive and a ferry trip to get there. I always remember my grandad having a glass of Woodpecker cider as a treat with a meal. Occasionally he would allow us to try a sip which made us feel grown up. Cider always brings back memories of sunny days spent with my grandparents. As a student I would enjoy the occasional glass of cider but now I tend to stick to white wine.
These days cider there are many more varieties and flavours of cider available. It has become a trendy drink which is lovely in a glass with ice on a summer day. At the moment you can get two bottles of cider for £6.50 at Sizzling Pubs which is great value. I tried the Blind Pig cider which I hadn’t heard of before. There are two flavours: whisky, honey and apple or bourbon and blueberry. Both are light and refreshing without being too sweet. My favourite was the bourbon and blueberry which had a more fruity taste. Both were perfect with my meal.
If you are not a cider drinker there are plenty of other offers available. Two tropical cocktails with J2O are £5. There is also the normal range of drinks you would expect in a pub.
The menu at the Sizzling Pubs always has a great selection and is updated on a seasonal basis. Every time the menu updates there is a mix of new items and old favourites. As well as main meals there is a great range of starters and desserts. We usually just get a main meal as the portions are plentiful. After ordering your meal you need to collect your cutlery, napkins and sauces and take them to your table.
One of the main attractions at the Sizzling Pubs are their sizzling skillets. The hot skillets arrive sizzling at your table on top of a wooden platter. This ensures that your food is always hot. If you are daring you can get an Ultimate Skillet which is a larger portion.
My husband and I both had a Sizzling skillet. His choice was a classic mixed grill consisting of a 5oz rump steak, 4oz gammon steak, two British pork sausages and a grilled half chicken fillet, served with seasoned chips, a flat mushroom, and a grilled half tomato. When you chose a skillet you have the option of upgrading your steak to a larger size or different type. You can also add different types of steak sauces for a small cost. His skillet came with a peppercorn sauce. My husband always raves about the sausages on this plate, I would love to know what type they are.
My choice was the ultimate surf and turf. This is a classic dish that I never get tired of. The 9oz rump steak comes with a grilled prawn skewer, mushroom, half a tomato, seasoned chips and onion rings. All skillets have a bed of onions underneath. The portion was very large but with the help of my son I did finish. The steak was cooked just the way I like it,but the prawns could have done with a little bit more cooking. They were still tasty though, just a little al dente.
My son and his friend both got a burger. The choice of burgers at the Sizzling Pubs is quite large and it took them a while to make up their minds. All the burgers come with a soft drink which makes them great value. The burgers come with chips and bbq sauce and come in a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato and red onion. My son went for the Triple House. This is three burgers in one, a beef burger, chicken fillet, a southern fried chicken fillet and American cheese sauce. It did look delicious and he was quite happy. My son’s friend chose a simple grilled chicken fillet burger. While simple it is still quite large and very tasty.
The total meal with drinks came to £41 which I think is great value considering I got one of the ultimate plates. Normally when we eat out it comes to around £35 for the three of us with two drinks each.
