Apple chutney

This makes a delicious apple chutney that is perfect with roast pork

Ingredients

  • kg cooking apples
  • 750 g light brown sugar
  • 500 g raisins
  • 2 medium onions
  • 1 tbsp whole grain mustard
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 700 ml cider vinager

Instructions

  • Peel, core and chop the apples into small pieces
  • Chop the onions
  • Add all the ingredients into a pan and heat

  • Simmer for 30-40 minutes until the chutney is thick

  • Pour into sterilized jars and leave to cool

Notes

To sterilize the jars wash them in hot soapy water and rinse clean. Pour boiling water into them, empty and place in a pre-heated oven at 140C for twenty to thirty minutes.
