Steak Pie

Ingredients

  • 500 g stewing steak
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 onion
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs
  • black pepper
  • 600 ml beef stock
  • 1 tbsp Worcester sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sauce
  • Puff pastry

Instructions

  • Cut the steak into cubes and roll in the flour. Add some salt and pepper to season.
  • Add some oil to a pan.
  • Chop and peel the carrot and onions.
  • Add to the pan and cook gently until soft.
  • Add the beef to the pan and brown the meat.
  • Add the stock, herbs, Worcester sauce and brown sauce to the pan and cook gently on the stove for around an hour until the gravy is thick and the meat softened.
  • Grease and line a pie dish with the pastry.
  • Add the meat into the pie dish and top with pastry, making some holes for the steam to escape.
  • Preheat the oven to 190C, Gas Mark 5
  • Bake for around 30 minutes until the pastry is golden.
