Cucumber Tomato and Lime Salsa Recipe
If you are looking for a perfect side dish to serve with crisps at a barbecue or possibly as an accompaniment alongside steak you might try making your own salsa. The fresh taste of a home-made salsa will give the dish zing and you can modify the ingredients easily to suit your taste. It is very simple and easy to make.
Recently we were inspired to make recipes for Cinco De Mayo and came up with this Cucumber Tomato and Lime Salsa Recipe. My son actually made this himself and had great fun chopping the ingredients into small pieces with supervision.
Cucumber, Tomato and Lime Salsa Recipe
Ingredients
- ½ cucumber
- 2 tomatoes
- ½ green pepper
- 1 chilli pepper
- ½ red onion
- 1 tsp paprika
- sprig rosemary chopped into small pieces
- Juice of 1 lime
Method
- Finely chop the cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, rosemary and onion and add to a bowl.
- Add the paprika to the lime juice and pour over the other ingredients.
- Stir so the ingredients are all mixed evenly and serve.
We created just enough salsa to serve with tortilla chips for the three of us and it tasted really nice with just a little bit of a zing. My son did say that the chilli peppers were a little bit hot though so if you have children you may want to omit these. I am now just waiting for some warm weather so we can have a barbecue.
