Why A Staycation Can Be Ideal

When you think of going away on holiday, you will more than likely automatically think of booking a flight overseas. After all, when you go away, that’s exactly what you do – go away. The more exotic and further away your destination is, the better. However, although that can certainly be exciting, it’s not for everyone. Not everyone is happy to go far away when they need a break, yet everyone will want and need to have a holiday at some point. The ideal answer is to have a ‘staycation’ instead.

A staycation used to simply be a break during which you stayed at home and explored your local surroundings. Today, though, the word has a broader meaning; now it means staying in your own country and exploring that, rather than heading abroad. If you are considering booking a holiday and you’re not sure whether a staycation is an option you should explore, here are some great reasons to stay at home and enjoy your time away from work all the more for it.

Instant Gratification

Instant gratification is something we’re all familiar with thanks to the internet and, perhaps to a great extent, thanks to mobile devices and apps. If we want something, we can have it, often there and then. Booking a holiday abroad doesn’t usually work like that. Often you’ll book your flights and hotels and then have to wait many months before you can go. This could be for many reasons, such as having to pay in instalments or waiting until the weather is better.

A staycation will give you instant gratification. You can take time off work and head off on your adventure pretty much immediately, so there is no need to wait if you feel you need to get out and take in some sights. This is a great way to relax your mind and return to normality much more relaxed and ready to be more productive.

The Price

No matter what you choose to do on your staycation, it is unlikely you will be able to spend more than you would if you were booking a holiday abroad. You will automatically save money.

This money can go towards anything else you might want. You can go and have fancy meals in restaurants you might usually have shied away from, for example. Or you can go to the theatre or have days out where you can really enjoy yourself without worrying about money. If you want to explore further afield, you can spend your money in a great hotel and really enjoy it (or find a good value hotel and have more spending money to have fun with!). Your Local Area

You might think you know your local area very well – after all, you live there, and maybe you have done so for many years. Yet there are likely to be parts of it you have never been to. Or perhaps areas just a little further out (which could be visited in a day with no need to stay away from home if you don’t want to) that you would like to see but have never gone to before. Your staycation means that you can finally get to see and experience these places. You could come across beautiful spots that you didn’t even realise existed.
