Technology is great for many things but when it comes to planning a paper planner is so much better. The very act of putting your hopes and dreams onto paper makes them feel much more real. Simply opening a brand new planner and writing on it really helps to get your thoughts in order.
In recent years I have become a bit of a planner addict. I am always looking for the perfect planner that will help me make my dreams a reality. There are so many different planners out there and they all do different things.

These days I tend to use a bullet journal as I can design the layout to suit me. Recently I have been trying the Daily Goal Setter planner from Mal Paper. It is designed to help you identify your goals and focus on the positive, making you happier.

Inside the Daily Goal Setter and Gratitude Planner
Mål Paper is a new stationary brand who aims to help people reach their goals through the use of productivity and gratitude practices. The Daily Goal Setter planner aims to help you do this.
For a planner to work for me, it needs to look smart, be easy to use and have all the spreads I need to keep me organised. Let’s have a look inside this productivity planner.
Outside and appearance
The Daily Goal Setter planner has a faux leather hardback cover with daily goal setting written on it in gold writing. It comes in three colours, black, grey or pink. I chose the black cover.
Inside the paper is good quality, 100 gsm ivory paper which holds ink well. There are two ribbon dividers which make it easy to bookmark the pages. At the back is a document holder which is always handy. An elastic fastener and a pen holder loop would be handy but that is a minor niggle.
The pages are undated and the planner should last for six months. It is a solid book that should last well, even when carried around in a bag for days on end. At £20.95 it is good value for money.
Contents
One of the main purposes of using a planner is for planning. It needs to have pages that you will actually use or you will not open it. This Daily Goal Setter planner has plenty of useful pages that you will be happy to fill daily.
The planner is undated so you can start using it at any time. The blank pages are full of endless possibilities waiting to be written out.

Goal Setting pages
One of the most important parts of a goal-setting and productivity planner is the goal pages. After all, if you don’t set goals how do you know you are making any progress towards them?
The goal-setting planner excels here. Not only does it have pages for long-term, medium term and short-term goals it also has several pages of advice on how to set goals. Most importantly it deals with your morning and evening routines and how setting these up can help you reflect and progress.

The pages are full of motivational quotes. Who doesn’t like a good motivational quote?
Working through these goal pages is a good way to work out what you want from life. It also helps you find a way to progress towards these goals by breaking them down into steps.

Always plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark. Richard Cushing
Monthly Pages
The monthly pages are a great place to plan and review your month. You get a monthly grid layout where you can record important dates like birthdays, appointments and other things you need to remember. There is also a section for the most important tasks of the month and a place for notes. At the end of the month, you have a space to review your month and rate your month.
This spread gives you a good overview which you can migrate to the weekly pages as you work through the month.

Weekly Pages
After the monthly pages, there are weekly pages where you get to plan out the tasks you need to achieve this week. These are broken into three sections of five tasks. These are the most important tasks of the week, tasks of secondary importance and additional tasks. It is a good way to ensure you tackle the things that will help you progress first.
There is also a section where you can review your week and rate your week after it’s done.

Daily Pages
The daily pages in this goal-setting planner are a little different from other planners. As well as a place to list the tasks that you need to achieve that day there is also a place where you can list 3 things you are grateful for today. Following this is a place for affirmations.

Thinking of three things you are grateful for is quite hard to start with but it gives a positive start to the day. The more you do this the easier it becomes. It also becomes part of your mindset making you feel happier.
At the end of the day, you can record the great things that happened today and rate your day. The pages are simple to fill in and help you prioritise your tasks for the day.
What I thought of the Productivity Planner
I really like the Daily Goal Setter and Gratitude planner. It looks smart and the paper is good quality so ink does not bleed through.
The hints and tips at the start of the planner give you a good overview on how to use it. It is hard at first to set goals but once you make a start at writing them down you gain more focus. The productivity planner really helps to motivate you and keep you on track.
The monthly, weekly and daily spreads were all useful and I really like the daily gratitude practice. So often we overlook the good things that happen to us and this really does help you reflect. At the back are a good few pages for notes so you can jot down random things you need to remember as well.
The fact that the planner is undated allows you to pick it up and use it at any time. If you are looking for a planning tool this is a really good planner to help you make a start.

What I thought of the Productivity Planner
Where can I get the Daily Goal Setter and Gratitude Planner?
I like the sound of the planner. I tend to use all kinds of notebooks, where I make lists for blogging goals, and also a big calendar in the kitchen for the important dates/appointments.
It helped me get more oraganised although I have lots of other notebooks as well
