ZenB Pasta Range Review

Tired of bland pasta? Say hello to ZenB! Explore our review of their game-changing pasta, mouthwatering sauces, and hassle-free Agile bowls. Unleash a world of flavours while fueling your body with wholesome ingredients.

Thank you to ZenB for providing the products for this review. All opinions are honest and my own.

ZenB is an innovative company that makes plant-based products and snacks. They make their pasta from 100% yellow peas, the same ingredient I use when making pease pudding. They use all the parts of the vegetable, this not only reduces food waste but adds more fibre to the pasta. It is also vegan and gluten-free, good news if you are on a gluten-free diet.

As well as pasta, their range includes pasta sauces and Agile bowls, which are pot snacks that just need the addition of boiling water.

ZenB Pasta Range: A Nutritional Powerhouse

The ZenB pasta range includes Fusilli, Macaroni, Penne, Pasta Agile and Spaghetti, perfect for whipping up your favourite pasta recipes.

Over the last couple of weeks, we have been trying ZenB pasta in a few recipes. The pasta is easy to cook. Just add to boiling water and after ten minutes you have a delicious al-dente pasta. If you prefer it slightly softer just cook it for a couple more minutes.

If that is too long to wait, then the ZenB Pasta Agile is ready in two minutes. Perfect when you need something fast.

The pasta does foam a little bit when cooking so it is a good idea to use a slightly bigger pot. This is normal when cooking yellow peas. You can reduce the foam by stirring frequently, using a slightly lower heat or adding a splash of oil to the water.

The pasta tastes delicious, it has a nice texture and flavour. There is a very mild hint of peas but unless you were looking for it you wouldn’t notice it. The pasta is the perfect base for loads of different pasta recipes, the spaghetti went perfectly with my quick and easy mince recipe. It is very similar to traditional wheat-based pasta.

Another benefit to eating ZenB pasta is that it is full of extra nutrients like iron, potassium, phosphorus and fibre.

ZenB Pasta Sauces: Flavourful Complements

No bowl of freshly prepared pasta is complete without a sauce and ZenB provides a range of gourmet sauces to complement their pasta. The range includes cherry tomato, red pepper and sweet carrot and new to the range mushroom ragu and aubergine ragu.

ZenB pasta sauces are made in the UK using whole vegetables. The sauces are really easy to use, just open the pouch, pour into a pan or a microwaveable bowl and heat through gently, stirring occasionally. You can even pour them into a pasta dish and cook in the oven.

The sauces are also gluten-free and rich in fibre, as well as being one of your five a day. They are made with only fresh whole vegetables, with no artificial colours, flavours or thickeners.

Intrigued by the aubergine ragu I gave this a try. I had some cooked chicken in the oven which I mixed with fried red onion and green peas. I then stirred the sauce through until it was warm. The sauce was lovely, it had a great depth of flavour which worked perfectly with the pasta and chicken. I would never have thought of using aubergines in a sauce but I would definitely use this again.

Since then I have tried the cherry tomato and the sweet carrot sauces. Both of these were really nice. They add a lovely burst of flavour to the pasta dish.

The whole family loves these Agile Bowls, with my favourites being the Tomato Basil Pasta and the Red Pepper Harissa. My husband loves the cauliflower tikka masala. They are really easy to prepare and very tasty.

The Agile bowls are great for a quick and easy lunch, you could even take them to work to make. The olive oil sachet is a nice touch and adds more flavour.

Each pot gives you 9.2g of fat, 37g of carbohydrates, 8.9g of fibre, and 14g of protein, all for just 305 calories. Ideal if you are watching your weight!

Where Can I Get ZenB Pasta?

What We Thought of the ZenB Pasta Range

We enjoyed eating the ZenB pasta, sauces and Agile bowls and would definitely get them again. Our favourite items were the Agile bowls which make a quick and delicious lunch, with flavours that please the whole family.

The pasta comes in a good range of shapes that make it easy to cook your favourite dish and the sauces work as a perfect complement to the pasta. The Agile pasta is great if you want something that is ready quickly and it is a good shape for soaking up sauces.

I love the fact that the pasta uses yellow peas which are more drought-tolerant than wheat making them ideal for growing in semiarid conditions. Also when the pasta is made the whole vegetable is used reducing food waste. The packaging is recyclable as well which is better for the environment.
