The festive holidays are a wonderful time of year and a great way to spend…
Ultimate Fall To Do List
Fall is upon us. A lot of people get excited for this time of year. There is so much coming up and it’s the time we are family comes together, we stay indoors more and get all cosy and snuggle up. It’s time to come for food, film nights and lots of autumn activities. There are so many different things you can do as well as so many different things that you can buy to make your autumn this year the best yet. Tell me some things to do this autumn to make it the ultimate Autumn ever.
Time For Baking
Something that a lot of people do in Autumn is baking more. There’s also an ingredient that a lot of people tend to reach for more and that is pumpkin. Another favourite in autumn is apples. You can use your imagination and create all different types of recipes. Here are some favourites for Autumn, apple crumble, pumpkin pie, cinnamon rolls, apple pie and pumpkin spice cupcakes. Pumpkins are used a lot for Halloween as Jack-o-lanterns and then normally left to rot. So much pumpkin gets wasted every year so be sure to use it in something delicious so you aren’t contributing towards food waste.
Get Out The House
In Autumn as the weather gets colder, the rain and wind start to make an appearance and people want to spend more time indoors. It’s only natural as it gets darker early and colder. We want to be indoors all snuggled up. However, it’s still important to get outside and get some vitamin D, some fresh air and make sure you are still active. There are lots of Autumnal things you can do outdoors which can be fun for all the family. You can look to go to a pumpkin patch, go apple picking, go for a walk in the woods and plan something interactive like a scavenger hunt for the kids to find autumn things like acorns, pine cones and different coloured leaves.
Shop The Look
As fall comes about we look for warmer clothes. Different trends and colours are sought after each year. There are key items you need in your Autumn wardrobe and if you haven’t got them be sure to add them to your list. The first is a waterproof but warm coat. Rain macs are great for a bit of drizzle but when you have heavy rain and cold wind you want to be sure you feel warm and aren’t soaked through. The next is boots. There are so many different types of boots to choose from in all different colours, lengths and styles. A must-have this year is buffalo boots. So look to find the womens largest collection of buffalo boots and find your perfect pair.
Cook Up Some Comfort Food
Comfort food is perfect all year round but very much favoured in the autumn and winter. We want more warming and filling dishes. A lot of our favourite comfort foods are things our parents made when we were little so had that sentimental value to them as well. Food can be just as much about feelings as flavour. The film Ratatouille is the perfect example of that. So try some things like Mac and cheese, which is a classic! As well as a casserole. You can do a casserole with anything to suit you, beef, chicken, sausages and even just vegetables if you don’t want to have meat. You can also have roast dinners which are a firm favourite. Can’t beat a roasted joint with potatoes, vegetables, gravy and Yorkshire puddings.
Time For Arts And Crafts
As we spend more time indoors in the colder months we also need to find new ways to keep the kids occupied. A great way to keep kids happy throughout the autumn months is by doing different arts and craft projects. You can use the holidays around you and even in the chair around you to make different activities to do. You can do Halloween masks, bonfire night pictures, centrepieces for Thanksgiving and you can even start early with Christmas cards or Christmas crafts. You can look to use the nature around you by creating different art pieces with twigs and leaves. You can sketch over leaves and use them to create beautiful pieces as well as inspiration for letting the kids use their imagination to make whatever they want. Give them some autumn nature items, paint, glue as well as other arty bits and leave them to it.
Spend Time With Loved Ones
Family and friends are an important element in our lives and as life gets in the way and we don’t want to go out as much we may find that we are not seeing them as much as we should and time just flies by. After the pandemic and not being able to see loved ones for a long time, we need to cherish those moments. There are different things you can do like take turns to host a dinner party. You can have themed nights like board games night, Harry Potter night, Mexican night and even something special for Halloween. You can look to organise a lazy day on the sofa with your friend or sister where you catch up and have a movies marathon of your favourite sets like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings or even a series like friends. You can also do it with your kids and their friends and set them up with duvets and snacks on the sofa and have a Disney + day.
Autumn is a magical time, a time for family, friends, appreciating the summer but looking forward to winter, comfort food and cosy clothes. Swapping nights out for nights in but still enjoying every moment. So don’t forget to take pictures and videos so you have these moments to look back on and can enjoy every day. There is so much more you can do but these are some great ones to start with, see what else you might list to do and make your fall to-do list.
