Novella Nostalgia Books

For a busy lady the Novella Nostalgia series of books by Tony Drury would make the perfect gift. Novella’s are long short stories or short novels. The Novella Nostalgia series bring together the art form of the novella with various cinema greats. There are three books in the series and all of them make a great read.

The first book Lunch With Harry  which takes inspiration from the classic Audrey Hepburn movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The quirky love story between the intelligent but eccentric Ella and charming Harry is an entertaining read. Long lunches and trips to the toy store provide the backdrop for a relationship that leaves you always wondering what will happen next.

Twelve Troubled Jurors has hints of Twelve Angry Men, one of my favourite films. It is a fascinating read giving insight into the trials and tribulations that jury members face during the trial whilst dealing with issues in their everyday lives.

The final book in the series is Forever on Thursdays. In the book you can see hints of the British classic Brief Encounter with its iconic love affair between Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard. A chance meeting develops into a romance and both side of the story are seen.

All of these books are perfect for a Christmas read.
