Attending Moonpig’s Virtual Event
Recently got an invite to a virtual event run by Moonpig to showcase their services. I was really looking forward to finding out more. On the night we had three masterclasses where we learnt all about the Moonpig app, how to arrange flowers and finally some cocktail making. It was all done using Zoom, which was unusual but fun.
Using the Moonpig App
Moonpig makes it really easy to order the perfect card or gift with just a few clicks in their phone app. The app features vary slighly depending if you use IOS or Android but both are simple to use. You can easily create the perfect card with a couple of clicks.
When you first enter the app you can choose the occasion you want the card for, personalised birthday cards, exam congratulations, thinking of you and many more. You then pick from a range of designs which include cards which you can personalise with your own photo.
There is a range of 10,000+ cards so you should be able to find the perfect one.
Once you have the perfect design you can customise it how you wish. The app has some great features to help you personalise the card. You can add your own slogans or choose from a ready made selection to make the perfect message. The ready made slogans are great for giving you inspiration when staring at a blank space.
Once the card is ready you can pick from a variety of sizes and add it into your basket for delivery.
The app features are slightly different on iOS and Android. If you use iOS you can add your own writing to the card. There is also a great feature where it shows you how large the card is in your room. This shows how large the giant card is (it’s very large!). These features should be on android soon.
Another great feature of the app is that you can add reminders to it. You can add all your friends and families birthdays and anniversaries and the app will remind you when the occasion is coming up. Never forget a birthday again!

Flower Masterclass
Moonpig has a great range of birthday flowers and to showcase this they sent me one of their beautiful bouquets, the luxury summer garden bouquet. The flowers came in a big box to keep them safe. To keep them at their best whilst travelling the bottom of the flowers have wrap with moisture and nutrients. They also had some flower food attached and a care leaflet.
The care leaflet tells you how to get the best from your flowers. To make it easy to arrange your flowers they have been prearranged in a florist hand-tied style and tied with an elastic band. All you need to do is to remove the leaves from the bottom of the stems, snip the stems at a 45° angle and put them in a vase.
On the night Roxanne from Moonpig took the flower masterclass to show us how best to arrange them. I learnt that I did not own the right sort of vase to showcase the flowers correctly. Ideally, the flower stems should be no more than one and a half to two times the height of the vase. The size of the opening is also important. It needs to be wide enough for the flowers to fit in without losing the shape but not so narrow it damages the stems. My vase was too narrow so I ended up with two vases full.
To arrange the flowers we undid the rubber band on the bouquet and separated the flowers into their different types. After removing any leaves that might be in the water and cutting the stems we put the flowers back in the vase one type at a time. This allows you to create a symmetrical arrangement.
I learnt a lot from the masterclass and it was lovely having fresh flowers in the house. A bouquet will always make a special gift, cheer people up and let them know you are thinking of them. Why not add a birthday bouquet when sending a card to make that special person feel really happy?
Cocktails Masterclass

As part of the virtual event, we took part in a cocktail making masterclass hosted by James from Mix & Twist. We were sent the ingredients to make the cocktail, including the Konik’s Tail Vodka which is one of the gifts available on Moonpig. They also have other spirits if you are not a vodka lover.
The cocktail making master class was great fun and we learn how to make three delicious cocktails using fresh ingredients. To make the perfect cocktail you need to balance a mixture of sweet and sour for a taste sensation.
Summer Garden
The Summer Garden cocktail is a refreshing cocktail perfect for a hot summer night. You need the following ingredients:
- 45ml Vodka
- 25ml lime
- 25ml sugar syrup
- mint leaves
- cucumber
- 25 ml eldeflower soda.
Slice the cucumber and add the glass. Mash it up to release the juice using a cocktail muddler or anything that will crush it. Add 25 ml lime which is the juice of around half a lime. The Mexican Elbow is a fabulous bar tool for getting the juice from the lime. Add the sugar syrup and elderflower soda and a spring of mint. Slap the mint before adding it to release the aroma. Add some ice, garnish with a cucumber and a sprig of mint and enjoy.
Strawberry Fizz

The strawberry fizz is a lovely fruity cocktail, perfect if you like a sweet drink. These are the ingredients:
- 45ml vodka
- 25ml lime juice
- 25ml sugar syrup
- soda
- strawberries
- lemon
Get four or five strawberries and crush them in the glass. Add the rest of the ingredients and decorate with a lemon slice. Add ice and sip.
Passionfruit Martini
The Passionfruit Martini is a lovely refreshing fruity drink. You need the following ingredients:
- 45 ml vodka
- 20 ml lemon juice
- 25 ml passionfruit syrup
- 60 ml pineapple juice
Put all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with some ice and shake until frothy. Pour into a glass using a strainer so the ice does not go in and enjoy.
